Three Points Please

So, we just need to beat Villa to go back to the top of the league .

On the face of it that should not be too difficult. However, as the referees seem to be doing everything possible to help City and Chelsea, I must admit to a certain amount of trepidation.

I might be getting my excuses in first, but the refereeing recently has been woeful.  We have not benefited from it very much at all, in fact, we have suffered quite extensively. Recent awful officiating sort of makes me understand why the bookies have City, then Chelsea as favorites.

Villa are poor at home,  we are very good on the road, so we should win, but the fear remains that we could be somehow thwarted.

As ever, I wont be predicting the team, or telling Arsene how to set up, but feel free to do so in the comments section.

I hope we win, and win with a flourish. Games like this we simply must not drop points if we are to maintain the challenge.

The pressure is on and we have to triumph . The way things are going it could be like this until the last game of the season.

Up the Arse!

I wouldn’t call it it an upheaval but there is some kind of transition going on on the ladies team. I’m not aware of any major issues facing the manager nor the players and it is concerning at the very least. Reminds me of the breakup we went through ten years ago with the men’s team. Too much , too fast. I just hope they aren’t trying to fix something that isn’t really broken at all. It would be a real shame breaking up that juggernaut for no good reason. Maybe the mix isn’t just right or maybe some of the players would rather be the big fish in a small pond than a smaller fish in an ARSENAL pond. I can’t believe financial issues would be a major concern.
I can see you are concerned too and curious as to what you think…their success and attitude has brought a lot of happiness and satisfaction and pride for me personally. May they go on to be a major force to be reckoned with in the years to come.

hahaha, win the championship, take a pi in it for good measure and return to the FA with our compliments. (0(
    There is a novel idea.
So sad NACHO MAN is injured but I must say the tackle on him was legal as opposed to the knockouts on TOMAS and on JACK earlier in the first half. Like AW said after the game . We will fight ,fight ,fight to the last man to win this bloody competition. Get the he out of our way.

  5. Did you see this total shite from Matt Dickenson in the Times this morning ?

“As we know, only referees make mistakes in football and they do so deliberately to spoil everyone’s fun. So quite right that Mike Jones — or “blunder ref”as the headlines have it — gets dropped from officiating in any Barclays Premier League match this weekend. ( Actually he is the 4th official at St Mary’s) He should count himself lucky not to have been tarred and feathered.

What was Jones thinking? What an outrage that when he saw a Newcastle United player clearly swaying to avoid a goalbound shot while standing in an offside position, the official concluded that there was probably interference.

Did he not instantly compute Joe Hart’s line of sight, using that clever graphic they had on BBC and Sky showing the journey of the ball through a crowd of bodies? Does his brain not have a slow-motion setting or at least an in-built replay device so that he could be totally sure Hart was distracted?

The next thing you know, Jones will be saying that he was forced to make a snap judgment based on one real-time viewing. Hopeless. Let’s keep him from any top-flight match this weekend, because then everything will be so much better.”

    Shameful innit ?

  8. Onwards onwards. We have Fulham, a team we mostly beat, at home, but they usually give us a very good fight. No team can be under-rated. Chelsea host ManYoo. Interesting that one for all sorts of reasons. Must win? For Yoo, yes, it kind of is that. They could do us all a favour and help Chelsea to a draw. Chelsea, as someone else said, appear like so many brilliant individuals attempting to “be” a team, without much teamwork. City have a rather easy Cardiff fixture at home, so expect another 14 goals or whatever. Injuries are difficult but we do have a bit of depth. Ox coming back. Lukas, looking according to le boss, “sharper”. Gnabry can’t be over-used now, but has more than shown why he is a first team player and fast becoming an irregular regular. Giroo back in confidence. We will of course lack for some speed on the flanks. Aaron can’t be too far away, surely. TV can deputize at left back, effectively too. Well, hopefully Chelsea can drop points for now; City will in due course have a nightmare away game or two.

  9. @PG – Two persons have been “volunteered” for the post-game reports. You are getting some serious help here. You are too smart to let this go.
