We are in a position to go back to the top of the league by playing one of the other major runners in the race. THIS is what we’re here for. THIS is why it’s a marvellous game to follow and the bonus of following a team that, against so many of the apparent odds, so many of the opinions of the apparently wise and worldly, is such a fortunate place for us to be.
Our team can play football as good as any. It’s a couple days before Christmas when we play Chelsea. I’m fortunate enough to be working Monday AM so will not get down to the Holloway road until a sensible pre match time – some I know plan to be in the pub from midday (hehe). A couple of beers, a cheerful stroll to the ground and then the Match itself! Fcuking marvellous! (AND all my xmas shopping is done – never before completed this early) What on earth is there to be down about?!
Anyone who finds something to whine about, or be miserable about, or spread doom and gloom about, is simply too sad a person; with an understanding of the situation somewhere below the level of understanding my cat has. The fact that I no longer have a cat since Patch passed away a couple years back shows just how little understanding of the situation such folk have!
Soak it up, the match, the pressure, the season and the beer/turkey/stuffing/vegetables/fizzy pop/chocolate [delete as suits] and enjoy. I’m here to enjoy the ride!
If you want to be miserable and naysaying and negative do just one small thing for me….. Fuck Right Off!

As for me Christmas has come three days early. I just hijacked my son’s wireless keyboard and paired it to my iPad.

It’s not just tomorrow’s game where the schedule is questionable, the timing for the FA Cup is also stupid.
The gas guzzling fans were awful. That club is awful on every level.
I have family working for the club. The kids are corrupted. It is too awful to describe. There was a moment after the 3-5 victory when I thought I could turn them but they went on to fluke their way to CL* trophy courtesy of those useless idiots Munchen. If Arsenal dump Bayern out of the CL they will have deserved it.
*which is why Arsenal’s season was over after the 6-3 against Abu Dhabi.
At least Atkinson has better workers rights inside the Etihad then the average punter carrying rocks in Dubai, in 45′, in order to buy back his passport.

Maureen has already tipped his hand with his comments after losing in the league cup to Sunderland, of all teams. None of that fancy-dan, risky attacking football nonsense. The excuse has already been made; he can’t depend on £70mm of striking talent at his disposal. As he did playing vs United and City he will set up for a turgid, negative counterattacking football; score 1st and defend the lead. Key player in this set up will be the likes of Ramires. Attacking players will be luxury selected for their ability to both defend and attack. With the extra incentive to not lose a game ever to Wenger, I don’t see Maureen departing one bit from what has served him well in the past.

I second the sentiments in your Post, Steve, and enjoyed the read. Thank you.
I was going to add that I am not sure why, on a positive blog, you would waste your time in admonishing the ‘negativists’ as you know it will be a total waste of time, and perhaps appears to be a mirror image of the carping they do when labelling others of a positive persuasion as stupid, gullible, neanderthal dunderheads.
Then I had a change of mind.
Because there was, on another blog, yet another of the ‘this team will never win nothing (yes, I am aware of the double negative) because they are mentally weak’ comments that have become the rage — almost literally.
I challenged the writer to explain what he meant by the term ‘mentally weak’ as he clearly feels he has all the acuity and knowledge of an eminent psychotherapist.
Expecting some puerile gobbledegook I was thunderstruck to learn it was all down to Arsene Wenger and his continual references to ‘mental strength’, so the blogger was just changing ‘strength’ to ‘weak’.
So he displayed some cunning in laying the blame on Wenger while retaining his own blissful ignorance of what the boss was trying to say.
So go ahead Steve, lay into them as much as you like, you will still be wasting your time but there will be some satisfaction in venting your irritation with these people, whereas I am despairing and wondering why I blog. 😦

Unfortunately I can understand the resurfacing of old ways; a severe lack of confidence in the team’s chances even though there’s months to go yet.
I’ve beem there too many times, watched us fall away when in good positions. I think its mainly bourne out of frustration and desperation for Arsenal to get the (cheeky) monkey off their back and win a pot.
Until that happens then I am expecting alot more gnashing of teeth and chatting of bollocks.

How much are proven quality goal scores like Theo and Poldi worth to the team?
What kind of lunatic would go and by a cup-tied superstar bench warmer when we have a creditable (when he’s bothered to want to be on) centreforward in NB23.
The Ox will be back before the end of January to offer fresh legs in attacking midfield.
Gnarby looks like a first teamer.
Johann and Coq are earning valuable bundesliga game time.

DC, I’m concerned they will bring on what they fear the most with all this negativity. I don’t hear the same talk about Liverpool without Suarez – he could just as easily get injured or attract another long ban for some other piece of stupidity, but where is all the wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth about Liverpool’s need for another superstar striker in the press?
Giroud is a good striker, but we are not dependent on him as we have many other goal scorers in our team. If he were injured I think we would miss his strength and hold up play as well as his defensive contribution more than we would his goals. We’ve done the dependency on one man before with the greedy badger and that did us no favours. Spreading the goals around is healthier for the team and helps to keep the opposition on the back foot as they never know where the goal threat is coming from.

Thanks for this Steve, and for all the great comments from the rest of you. I confess to having been nervous for the boys during the run up to this game. All this “must-win” crap being thrown around has ratcheted up the rhetoric and the pressure. But you guys have reminded me that it’s silly for me to be nervous. The boys aren’t nervous, I’m sure. They’re ready. And they will give it everything they have. If the result goes our way, as I think it will, then great! And if not? Well, we’ll still be “there or thereabouts” at Christmas. And we will go again on Thursday.

well its two days before Christmas and if we win tonight we’ll be top of the league, but the knives are a sharpening and not for the traditional turkey. Old scrooge is out and his army of doomer and gloomers collecting their debt of bile and spreading their negative cheer…..bah humbug.
For the rest of us normal supporters the game is a chance to beat a team we hate, rise back to the top of the league and masters of all we purvey if only for a few days it will be a welcome Christmas present.
Dickens may have had a talent for the macabre but most of us here will concentrate on the happy endings with tiny Theo scoring the winner and being carried shoulder high through the streets COYG

Double canister is an artillery round, used as a last resort against a charging horde.
It’s 2 bags of small canister shot that will spread out and maim multiple targets.
A crude, nasty but horrifically effective weapon to be used for a last ditch defence.
Considering how we all were feeling, last January 2012 when PA was set up I thought the handle fitted the site perfectly.
Enough about old me,
Let’s hope Wenger’s team blast the Chavs to pieces tonight, I have no doubt they will but it won’t be a crisis if they don’t, the pressure is more on Moe, which usually means he will stop at nothing to get his result.
It’s a good job Essien is suspended, otherwise he would flood the pitch with his biggest thugs- but he still has Ramires, Mikel and sideshow Bob to call on.

Hi there Dexter! Have you been back long? You were certainly missed. I’ve been preoccupied (as GKam noted the other day) so I haven’t been blogging much the last several weeks or keeping up with comments.
I’m trying to be cheerful about this Chelsea match but I am pretty sure Mou will do his best to stifle the game. But that hasn’t been working out so well–there’s a chance to score on them but Ozil and Ramsey need to play like they did in October and early November. Hope the rest did them some good. Theo likes a dramatic goal against Chelsea. I expect Vermaelen to be solid.
