Well, who knew?
I was minded to write a post about the ridiculous notion put forward by the malcontents that Arsene has changed. An idea put forward to justify their stupidity over recent times.
Yesterday in the comments section of PA, people did it for me. Have a read of some of them …
Anicoll:
“Yes its all a bit hard to follow the ‘Arsene has changed’ debate Harry
I think almost certainly Arsene has changed his approach and precisely how he does things – he is a bright, energetic professional man who constantly reviews what he does, how he goes about his work, to eliminate error and tries to devise better ways to secure the results he wants to achieve.
And I am sure he has done that every day of the time he has managed a football club, and is doing so today, and will be at it tomorrow too.
If he did not constantly change, adapt, improve, discard, test this approach and that, then he would not be the exceptionally good manager he undoubtedly is.
The notion however that he underwent some form of Damascene revelation and ‘changed’ at some point in the past few months is however a theory too far – imo”
Leo S:
“‘Wenger’s changed” is a very convenient way for those who endlessly criticised him to now give him his due praise without admitting they were wrong in everything they said about him – “he’s stubborn”, “he wants to win with his ‘project youth’”, “he will never spend £30m on a player, it’s not his way”, “he doesn’t care about the defensive side of the game”, yadda yadda yadda.
“Oh I didn’t get it wrong. Arsene’s CHANGED, you see. Yes, that’s it, I can definitely save face with that one.”
He has changed just as much as he ‘has listened to the fans’. I love that one. If he had listened to the fans he would have either sold off Ramsey, Mertesacker, Rosicky, Szczesny and a few others to buy Begovic, Samba, Cahill, Parker and Diame and play 4-4-2 with Walcott through the middle, or ‘fucked off back to France’ as some so eloquently put it. Listened to them my arse. He has done it his way, all the way.”
ZimPaul:
“Wenger ‘changed’! What a load of crap. He, and Arsenal the club has been and remain a model of consistency. In that respect, as far as always going for maximum results, trophies, and accolades, it was Wenger who began and managed a massive transition at the club more than a year before blog-idiots screamed for “change” and “end of era”. An unprecedented number of players were moved on, and brought in. It was a planned transition, faultlessly executed and not once did we blink and lose our top four and CL record. Youth development remains at the core of Arsenal. It is a matter of public record that Wenger has repeatedly said he is not averse to high transfer fees, although it worries him for the future of football in reference to financial fair play regulations and Arsenal will not spend more than its retained revenue and has not done so; he is averse to transfer costs that are not justified by the quality and attributes of a player. Who are the top players at Arsenal, what did we pay for them and what are they worth now: Gibbs, Theo, Ramsey, Jack, Mikel, Kos, Chewie, Giroud, Santi, Lukas, Flamini? That little lot alone would set any club back a Chelskian amount of dosh right now. We either developed them or purchased them at fair price and allowed them to flourish at Arsenal!! Now we are reaping the rewards of the man’s planning and wisdom.
‘Wenger changed’ is one of the biggest insults to the man, and there have been many”
Well said those men.
@ Gainsbourg69.

well if xavi plays at a level that keeps cesc out then yes its up to xavi..this is xavi not some random midfielder who had a good year or two.. he is the nous of spain’s greatest era in football success
german league is a bit different to spannish ( more physical?) …plus when its known that bayern has gotze and also kroos shweinsteiger …why woudl he need cesc anyway
and who are you to critisise him ?, have you been in his shoes ? have you been in a foreign country with a whole club and people looking at you for inspiration when you cant even shave yet? and your buddies having orgies with shakira and what else back home while you have to babysit bendtner nasri and eboue ? oh i see we are all so important we must all have an opinion or else we cant go on….lets define people and situations according to our personal interpretation of events even without knowing full facts…bravisimo.
those who can…DO…those who cant do..PREACH..and those who cant do either…CRITISISE
😉 dont thank me….
p.s dont take this the wrong way …lol…but criticism is done by cynics and detractors. critics are the ones who never made it at anything so they stick their noses and have opinions about others. perhaps it was a bad choice of words form your part and you meant something else which is why i say dont take this the wrong way at the beggingin f my p.s……criticism is negative, carries a negative prism…talking positivley about someone is praise and talking negatively about someoen is called critisising
film critics, football critics, you name it……. theyre all essentially expressing something negative, not positive.

Hunter & Gains,
Be interesting to see what happens with the Spanish national team. Of course Xavi won’t want to take a step back in a WC season. Problem is he should not be playing every game in Brazil, he won’t be able to. If he’s starting every game I would not recommend putting down any chips on Spain.
Off to the football. Come on the Arsenal!

This lot are so thick and stupid, it’s why they had to invent terms like AKB. No one is interested in talking with people who have their heads firmly wedged up beyond the depths of their Arsenal’s. They are swimming in their own effluence.

With Xavi, the that falls over all the time and Alonso not in the best of form or injured before the confed. cup, my guess is that Arteta must have stepped on the Marquis’ little toe, or something like that. I’m not complaining!

No other younger MF seems to be coming through to ranks to chase Cesc for his position with Crasca. If he stays, he will get his central role – if he has the patience and if the fans accept him.
He has never fully won their hearts the way he had us Gooners doting on his every move on the pitch.

The question you raised as to whether the ‘fans have changed’ DC is an interesting one.
Anyone visiting the Emirates or places where Arsenal fans congregate, physically or digitally, would be struck by the drop off in protest marches, 7 minute demonstrations, booing of the players and manager, and general maggotry in recent weeks. They might conclude that these misguided and feeble minded creatures have seen the light, as you say.
I am not so sure. I sene Tim and his ilk have change d very little. They may feel a battle has been lost in their struggle for celebrity and recognition but for them the war goes on.
Cos lets face it with no anti Wenger agenda. no protest marches, no exclusive little quotes given to vermin of the media, what are they ?
Fuck all.

Well said Anicoll.
There is one wanky black scarf wearer in our supporter’s club.
No one knows his name, we couldn’t be arsed to talk to him and for bloody sure we don’t want to hear his ‘brainwashed’ opinions.
I don’t mind a bit of banter, even sharing a knowing joke or too with the doomers, at least the ones who can understand. Most of the folks on the other blog fall into this category.
The vast majority of us, in Dublin at least, are part of the true W E N G E R’ S A R M Y!

If we’re going with rumors, then it wasn’t orgies with Shakira, it was Zlatan and Pique falling out over Bojan’s sweet eyes.

Fin, it will be interesting to see who they play in the middle if Xavi is injured. I don’t think Cesc is guaranteed Xavi’s place, although I rate him high as can be in that position. I always wanted to see him play there for the Spain NT.

So much shit was said about Jenkinson during the build up to this game and the boy didn’t put a foot wrong tonight. He delivered an awesome cross for Bendtner’s goal and he kept his side of the pitch secure. The scapegoating is ridiculous anymore. We just aren’t as weak as we were a few seasons back when Cesc was babysitting Eboue, Bendtner and Nasri.

Just back from the game – I do love watching the Arsenal! Despite the changes, the same spirit and quality was evident. I was happy for Bendtner and Jenks – both the cross and the header were excellent. Ozil is really enjoying himself in this team – you can really see that on the pitch – I thought he was good tonight. Santi is slowly finding his mojo and I’m hoping he will explode soon. We were very kind to the tigers today when we could have had a hatful. If I had any criticism, it would be that we need to put away a few more goals when we are in the ascendancy. Fortunately, we didn’t need to as we barely seemed to break sweat while holding the toothless tigers at arms length. I sat there wondering how this team managed to score 3 against Liverpool? For the first 30 minutes, they barely touched the ball until we decided to let them have the odd sniff to lull them into a false sense of security.
The quality of some of the passes from Arsenal was just wonderful – Ozil, seems so nonchalant and then bang! Ramsey is trying to make a liar out of Arsene. He was just saying how Ramsey lacked the quality of Ozil’s key passes and needed to develop his final ball and then he thinks, anything Ozil can do, I can do too – there you go boss!
I don’t know how the crowd came across on TV, but the North Bank in particular were rocking tonight, well the section behind the goal. The block I was in was rather pathetic and I was the only one singing, so there’s still some work to do there. But at least no one was booing and the complaints about missed passes were thankfully few and far between. Happy days. Long may it last – we’ve earned every one of them – the hard way!

Great watching us succeed where Liverpool so recently failed and without really needing to go through the gears at any point. Especially given the disaster that unfolded down old toilet; that’s their championship defence over then. Lets spare a minute for the still injured pursie. All right, let’s not bother.
Crowd was on top, top form – my favourite chant was the “you’re not City any more” – brilliant. Closely followed by the somewhat ironic “Nicholas Bendtnder, he scores when he wants …”
World class cross from Jenks – but I thought we were supposed to be trying to have a downer on him?
All very confusing, this negativity lark; just don’t know whether they are coming or going.
Onwards and onwards.

Fuck any show-boating.
Give me plenty of controlled 2-0’s with the complete domination of the game as was demonstrated tonight, and for the last bunch of games.
The big scores will come but we don’t need to rely on them.
Not the same way the ‘mousers need to rely on Nasty McBitey to justify him staying when all he thinks to himself after tonight is “Real Madrid here I come”.

And the delicious irony to it all is the UK media have been so far up the exhaust pipe of the old toilet for years for any of them to be able to call it for what it is.
And glory of glories, the pathetic annual arse-licking from the pundits has created a reality avoidance dilemma for the red scum, they really can’t understand how crap they truly are now the red nose has gone.

fair credit to Brucie – he knows when his team were bettered.
Hull City boss Steve Bruce: “The one thing you want to do is start well and they have scored a wonderful goal, we’ve been done on a one-two in a wide area, but it’s wonderful. Arsenal are confident enough and then when they go 1-0 up early on it becomes a difficult evening for us.
“I was delighted to get back into the game (ehh? WTF??) but lo and behold we did the same thing in the second half but late on we rolled our sleeves up otherwise it could have been embarrassing.”
