Sadly we have learned that Adam (aged 38) lost his life in a tragic car accident.
Adam was an occasional poster on this site but a big contributor on Untold Arsenal.
A couple of months ago he Emailed me some articles that has been published by Untold ,asking if we would like to use them.I can think of no better tribute to him than letting you read one of these articles.
Here is what he said.It gives an of what a humble and gracious man Adam was.
“Hi, thanks for taking the time to view these. If any are to your sites taste then please use them or the information in them. It would be interesting for me to get the opinion of your regulars. Lost in Bureaucracy was my last piece and basically combines a lot of the other articles into one with the less information but highlights the transfer system for what it is, a complete bloody mess. When these were written they opened the eyes of many a reader, as to what goes on behind football, although I think your readers seem fully aware, they may be amused even educated, or I may learn something from them.”

Scout 7 is a company founded in 2001, set to gather information on football players worldwide, with the sole purpose of becoming an online scouting network, following a player’s progress. This closed network allows its clients to monitor players and even helps identify transfer targets.
The company claims to have a vast array of clients from the Premiership to top tier clubs on the continent. Based in Birmingham, England this company works with Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham, Stoke, Aston Villa, West Ham, West Brom, Wigan, Bolton Wanderers, Everton, Southampton amongst many others.
Proscout7 has a core centre of data on 130,00 players across 130 countries, each player has their own record incorporating extensive information including key statistical analyses, contract expiry date, agent details, third party ownership on to information regarding the players history of injuries and ability to settle into a new environment.
The individual clubs can add to this information via their own scouting network adding the reports which can then be accessed by select employees of the club anywhere in the world. This is a monitoring system that will help clubs identify young talent before they become headline news and their value increases.
Also available on this system is video footage of the players and again a club can add to this player record via its own area of the data base. This also includes team sheets data and match data.
They also offer live feed footage of games being broadcast or filmed anywhere in the world all a client has to do is log in and watch. The company acquired ownership of Xeatre.tv in 2009 and offers this unique package which has raised the company above all other scouting networks or data gathering bodies involved in the football industry.

The company claims to have 90% of premiership clubs as its clients, so the question I cannot find the answer to is who the two clubs are that do not subscribe to this system?
I have found that Arsene Wenger has spoken at seminars held by the company along with prestigious names from other sports such as Billy Beane. Plus I believe this form of data collection seems to suit Arsene Wenger’s approach to football along with Billy Beane’s adopted approach to baseball.
Is Arsenal one of the two, and if they are it may go some way to answering why we miss out on some targets. But this is an assumption. All in all this seems to me like we have now truly entered the realm of computer football management. So when we claim that some people would like to buy and sell as easily as they do within these computer games, the truth it seems, isn’t far from it.
The company’s latest venture is the expansion into South American football, so it will be interesting to keep an eye on their progress in to this football minefield and the effects it may have on scouting networks and agencies already at work in this region.

I must say I was disappointed that a team of Dortmund’s quality feel it necessary to cheat to the extent they did last night. They were quite dirty in a very sly way. Pretending to be injured to try to get Arsenal to put the ball out of play and then leaping to your feet when your team wins the ball back was one of the low points for me in a catalogue of little incidents of ‘gamemanship’. It was not nice to see.

The thinnest of margins separated the sides last night – I have no doubt that we can reverse the result in a fortnight – it does no harm to go toe to toe with one of the best footballing sides in Europe

In my opinion both teams were evenly matched until Cazorla replaced Jack and thereafter we were began to dominate. The little Spaniard on the left and Ozil shunted to the right allowed us to stretch the field and find more openings. With the quality of the players we had on the field our passing was faster and crisper. Until the 80th minute there seemed to be only one winner. Unfortunately we committed an old sin of over-committing to attack and that space down our left was once again was exploited by their left back. Reminds me too much of the old Arsenal under CF4.
Unfortunately the old divisions about having an extra DM in the form of Flamini will now resurface as people resort to their favorite cliches and hobby horses. But an extra DM at 1-1 would simply signal we were playing for a draw….at home. Is that the type of football people want us to play? Just wondering.

Some good should come out of this defeat. I think Aaron was a little too confident and was caught in possession which lead to their first goal. This defeat will instill the need for more care and greater concentration for longer periods during big games….When Theo, Lukas and Alex get back we will terrorize defenses, especially if these speed merchants are used as weapons in the last 30 minutes of games when the opposition are tiring….Borussia are a very good side……

Thanks Anicoll for making the correction about their right back Groosskreutz who was also a danger in the 1st half. I think Wenger must have pointed that out during the half-time team talk hence his criticism of the players at the end re: naivety.
Couple of players look jaded after a heavy run of games prior to and during the int’l break especially Ramsey and Giroud. Methinks there will be plenty rotation for Palace this weekend with the attendant risks.

Interestingly, this was one of those rare defeats that serves to build and strengthen. I also thought the match itself was engrossing. The last time Dortmund visited Emirates they dominated midfield and possession, and we were a bit lucky.
Dortmund, running second (by a point) in Bundesliga to Bayern, 7 wins out of 8, serious league contenders, again, finalists in last year’s CL, are a force in a very strong league at least on par with EPL, and the match answered a few questions for me about … how are strong are Arsenal really this season? Yes, we are strong.
It was one of those where in the big picture either team might have won, a mistake or moment of genius would have done it either way. Our moment of genius hit the crossbar and upright, right where they join. Such is life …

After a slightly anonymous start, Arteta did fine in the second half in a defensive role, but we lacked offensive width especially on the left, although both Sagna and Gibbs provided some of that, Sagna outstanding. Their winning goal was a minor error of judgment really. We had 4 defenders all back OK, and as the ball was crossed all instinctively moved towards the point of the cross and players in view, watching ball not players, the excellent cross sailed over, so leaving the keeper to face Lewandowski in space. For the purist one would say defensive lapse, because one defender should have been looking over his shoulder at the only free target. Minor really. Good lesson.

lewadowski elbow had no malice…all strikers aim to get their elbow felt by opponent so as next time the defender stays back….i dont want some gorilla obstructing me while im trying to control the ball coming to ME. .its not a 50/50. the defender either has to go to ball first ( if he can) or if he dont then waits for striker to control ball and not let him turn…..its not rugby to go for whichever ball at any given time. if the ref sees the elbow he gives foul..simple. why red?

Quite a few of ours looked tired or not 100%, Jack, Aaron, Mesut and Giroo, not hard to fathom after a steady string of matches. I thought the rest of the team were excellent, and Santi dominated the instant he came on. Wenger thinks Per might be the best back in the world, and I tend to agree. It is very rare he doesn’t make the right, cautious but absolutely solid pass, or takes up the wrong position.

and its ok its dortmund…last year finalist ..a game that can go either way..both teams are way too good for home/away routine games…we were better just unlucky not to score and dont forget..without flamini on the pitch and without hunter in the stands at row 13 dont expect many victories… 🙂

I would say the elbow was, in the opinion of the ref, a minor infraction. Hard to argue. When you jump to head a ball you use your arms as if for extra lift, and they come down again elbow first. It’s quite hard not to do it this way. This is how “elbow thugs” get away with it, a well timed elbow when you see the other guy out the corner of your eye. “Sorry mate; had no idea you were there”.

Just to be clear, I wasn’t saying Aaron was unlucky to have the ball stolen from him. He totally screwed that up. Over-confidence and over-exuberance combined for a really poor decision. I just hated to see the punishment be so severe, that’s all. But that’s football. And when you play against a side like that, you can’t switch off. Lessons will be learned, though, by the whole team. They’ll be better for it.

Great credit has to go to Dortmund for their performance. They pressed brilliantly at the start and took the lead through that relentless pressure. It was suffocating, we could barely get out of our own half. Once they had that lead they took the rest they must have needed and looked to absorb pressure for the rest of the half, probably not expecting Giroud to come into the game in such a big way and get us the equaliser. In the second half they were very strong and organised, kept Giroud quiet, and for all our efforts and increasing fluidity they kept us to just two real chances. Our tiring/rusty legs got sucker punched at the death. It was a game of fine margins and on another night it might have been us to get the winner.
We remain in a strong position, with the games against Marseille and Napoli very winnable. A result in Germany, by which time we could have Theo back to hurt them on the break, would give us a very decent chance of topping the group.
We now have two games where we can give several individuals a rest and come back fresh for Liverpool, Dortmund and Man Utd.

Thought Dortmund played well and were very professional and did everything right, but still nearly lost. The game could have gone either way if anything they we’re tiring and we looked to finish the game on top. The goal came at exactly the right for them. Hard to say the four defenders back got it wrong when they had six players attacking our box and the man at the back was arteta but it wasn’t his fault it was the other midfielders not getting back quick enough. With hindsight we could say we lacked width and maybe should have gone with Gnarby or Ryo but it would have been a difficult call. All in all although obviously disappointed I’ve definitely felt worse about defeats so we must be progressing

Have no fear. The CL functions, by design or accident, in such a way that to progress you better be excellent and a little luck helps too. It’s accentuated a bit more in this group of death. It is what it is. Any team wanting to progress must at some point win one or two away games, depending on home form, and opposition for all is daunting. Essentially 10 points tends to be the lowest threshold, and even that may not get you there. Three teams are on 6 and Arsenal probably needs 2 wins, minimum, to top the group to get to 12 points. It’s more or less similar for the others, no team has an easy ride. Dortmund desperately needed a win and got it. A win and two draws might work for us, 11 points. Three draws is unlikely given how close it all is, but just possible. Marseilles at home is a likely win. We must either beat Dortmund or Napoli away, simple. Any team wanting to progress must pull off a similar stunt, with a set back at some point. If they can, we can. It’s the desire that tends to count ultimately in these matches. I think our chances of pole position are difficult (same for all) but still excellent. Our chastening defeat might even help clear heads, this is what it takes, get used to it.

Next time we play them, Santi will be less rusty, Ramsey and Giroud will have had a week’s rest and Theo will hopefully be able to come in as a sub. The three way tie at the top sets up a very interesting finish to the group.

Just reading the Guardian re Halloway’s demise. Seems he was relying on Scout7 or some online service during the summer. Fat lot of good that did him and Palace. Now we know why Arsene and his scouts will be watching a player for months.
Even in death, Adam is providing an educated insight into how the game is run. Just thought I should share this useless bit of information with you guys.
