Another Rant

My thoughts are all over the place this morning.I am beginning to think I am bipolar.

I read the full transcript of Ivan’s Q & A yesterday ,and was feeling ecstatic. He said everything I wanted to hear.

He confirmed everything I believe to be true and filled me with hope for the future of this great club.

It looks like Arsene is to be offered a new deal and he will finally have some actual money to spend.

Then I made the mistake of reading some tweets and blogs.

What possesses these people to think they understand better how to run the club than the professionals at the very top of their field who have proven time and again that they excel ?

In the last six months or so the team, commercial team and coaching staff have proven their worth.Yet these morons, that feel they know better ,cling to their entrenched positions and try to suck every bit of pleasure from us.

Look at the  site Untold Arsenal.Over there they rejoice in everything about the club. They rightly laud our manager and rejoyce in our every small victory. They look forward in hope. They applaud us winning the Fair Play League and savour the way we have progressed as a club. And what do they get ? Ridicule, that’s what. When what they deserve is our appreciation.

But other sites ,run by people full of their.own self importance ,deride just about everything the club does .They  though ,are held up as some sort of saviours.People doing checks and balances on our behalf.Well they are nothing more than pompous pricks leading the stupid to a place where they can all be miserable together.

I am heartily sick of reading some jumped up no mark telling us what formation we should be playing or who should or should not be playing .It would not be so bad if it was just that, but no,you are told that this is how it should be.Its done in a way that leads the reader to believe that the author is right and the manager is incompetent.

Then you get ” Its just an opinion,I am not saying I know better” When in fact they are doing just that.If you tell someone they are not doing something correctly ,and to do it a different way,its because you think you know better. Why else would you do it?

Ivan confirmed that we have been working within financial restraints. This should have been obvious to all but the retarded.Instead of accepting it those who have been insisting we have been awash with money for years ask why the has he previously said we had money ? Well I look at it this way,you can have no money ,but if your roof blows off you will find the money to get it repaired.Had Arsene insisted that we desperately needed to spend(perhaps to maintain our CL position,as we did with Arshavin)the money could have been found.

How many times will people have to be proven wrong before they are willing to accept that our club is run in an exemplary fashion by people of the very highest calibre ?

deserves reading at least the second time if not more.

Once the decisions made result in trophies, they will slowly get it.
It as become a rule in football for twats, that every decision is the right one if there is a trophy at the end.

The exact same decision which have been made since Emirates move, which have been criticized by thousands of journalists, supporters, morons, will be used again to praise the Arsenal, once the first trophy is won. You’ll see.

  4. That is why you always see those people trying to end a discussion with “8 years” like trophies is the only way to measure what happens at a club.

  6. I enjoyed yesterday’s to and fro. Wonderful stuff from Fins. Took my mind off work stuff too which is often welcome. Whether we sometimes discuss or gently tease another blog is a moot point, but interesting. I take it literally, and in a sense professionally. If someone places a statement in public domain, I reserve some right to comment on it in public domain; and the reverse is true. No harm, it’s called dialogue and is in fact the whole fun and social function of modern blog bottom-up journalism. But ethics apply here too. ACLF, as an example, is an important, well written platform and has a reputable history. Therefore, a tease is fine, I do my share of that, as I used to on that platform, and have always missed Poliziano since the days of cut and thrust; but respectful is the way to go. And as Steww says, it’s not at all the point of PosA.

  7. I look earnestly for someone to tease on PosA, but PG doesn’t allow them through (I suspect)! Then again I don’t read any other Arsenal opinion except on here, twice a season on “there”, and whatever hard news comes about in the more serious media. Perhaps I am a bit limited, no? I form my opinion watching matches, and swapping banter with the bloke I’m sitting next to. The fun of African Arsenal (and this is specific to Arsenal) experience I think, is that priorities are a bit different. A sharp move (dribble, pass, chip, tackle, save and so on) is celebrated, endlessly talked about, the technical side of it, the skill, the artistry. A room full of raucous analysts, all attempting to make their observation known, laughing. Wenger is never questioned, but his decisions are.

  9. Ox is sure to play a big, big role; Ramsey clearly, it might be his real breakthrough season (as the absolute star he know he is), he’s had two now proving his mettle. Theo’s path is clear, his steady technical progress is exemplary over the years and he’s going to make a few commentators look like idiots in years to come (in that they couldn’t appreciate his special talent in his formative years, only looked at his shortcomings). Jack will certainly have something to say too and if not the coming season then the one after is most likely to be seen as the essential pivot of the England midfield, and perhaps in time the finest (English) player of his generation, but he will have to work hard. Jenks is the one to watch out for; that incredible leap forward in confidence in a season since starting boyishly. Gibbs is under-estimated, and reminds me a lot of Cole (without the stupid attitude that is). Chewie is my man though, and as much as many see a keeper coming, I doubt it; I sense Chewie will take over the mantle, an important one in Arsenal’s history, of “best goalkeeper in England” in coming seasons. They’re all my favourites.

  14. Oh yeah, and “we *could* sign players of Rooney’s quality” predictably becomes twisted into “we are going to sign Rooney”. I knew that wasn’t what he had said even before I read the transcript.

  15. George – You struck every bloody nail right on the head. Before making this comment I read Ivan’s Q&A from top to bottom. What struck me was his outright optimism yet scrupulous attention to not getting into the speculative nonsense that John Cross did his best to ensnare him. It is so much in contrast to the snarky, unfair criticisms of Ivan, Stan, the Board and Wenger that they are incompetent, thieving devils who are only interested in the bottomline and not in winning trophies. Unlike the nonsense of a supposed “end of an era” it would seem we are on the eve of a golden age.

  16. such brilliance ! you see all these guys are “perfectionists” in everything they do in their lives thats why they treat the club that way..hehe..

let them boil in their own miserable shit. i also laugh when they rip the manager the club and the players apart with the attitude of a guru and then say its only an opinion.

do they think their opinions shouldnt be critisised? what kind of logic is that i wonder? my friend if you talk shit and youre expecting us to believe that you know better than the professional who has brought world football to a whole new level then have the balls to face the music….

classless fellas with nothing to do all day who sit and mock professionals who are better at anything these shitheads will ever do.

as ive said they want the whole cake and to eat it too. they want the liberty to talk shit about the club manager and players but when you take them to task they play the victim card……freedom of expression and other bollocks…

ok then some are free to call wenger a past it naive whatever and likewise i have the freedom to call them a bunch of know nothing cunts. and they have no right to feel offended because principally WE are correct. we are of the position that the fan’s knowldege on running football clubs is A BIG FAT ZERO, therefore any criticism launched towards the manager or club is stupid childish and the creation/fabrication of some twat behind a keyboard….

p,s sorry steww i apologise….for last night…. hehe…. but such idiots even if arsenal wins it next year they will turn and say ” it should have happened sooner”…i can not accept that these cunts want to get away with their treason and disrespect they have shown. to me they are worst than spuds or mancs…total scum.

  17. Agreed. I’ve been flabergasted by the unwavering misery in some fans this morning. Once they are proven wrong they wont be able to support as they will have gone past the point of no return. Many are bordering on hate for the manager and board. This worried me no end as the board may have to listen to a strong yet moronic ill informed voice on such matters. The contract offer puts that to bed and I for one am loving the prospect.

One thing I can’t really agree with, as possibly i’m guilty of the accusation and had a conversation with you wednesday. This leads me to think I may be the accused specifically, who knows but i’m not that bothered. Is the fact about discussing things prefixed with “it’s only my opinion. Who am I to say” I have had that conversation over a 442 formation. I stand by it as his was the best i’ve seen arsenal play and would like to see 2 strikers. However if Wenger has other plans I no damn well they are better than mine. Comments are made in an arsenal discussion environment. Opinions if not negative are fine to be aired in my eyes. I know that is similar to a doomers defence but this is a different thing entirely.

Keep up the good work. Very brave posting after stews effort but you did a grand and pleasing job.

And he will have them all organised working efficiently without any ill feelings ( none ive heard of the last 16 years ) THATS A MANAGER!! he will set them all up and supervise like the hawk. yeah!! and he will do it with humility and respect towards everyone..from henry to the janitor and tealadies… form the kid who just arrived to the world cup winner cazorla

i am not afraid to say it ..he developed something like modern ajax at arsenal… AN INSTITUTION OF FOOTBALL SCIENCE……an ajax that can also play with the big boys and only lose the title due to his young players inexperience. his tactics and football mehtods/ideas are title winning methods. he has proved it. its just a matter of using the right material, and in a market like football and with a stadium to repay you wont be able to buy the best material in the market. you will mix and match and even create your own…alchemist/ manager/ god. the trophies will come. the work and preparation has been made at the highest of standards and in the most difficult of periods.

Arsenal football club under him became a point of reference not only of how clubs should be run but how football should be played too, how players can be nortured, how people/players from various backgrounds, ehtinicities, religion can combine their talents under one cause….an ithaca for those who want to progress and reach their ultimate potential irrespective of nationality . a truly global approach and mentality.

i read shit by others that wenger;s performance hasnt been “optimal” ….in other words these fans want 100/100 every year..they are nuts….they can not expect such a thing when you build stadiums and play with teenagers….. any person above 18 should be able to understand that….

    – I like to think it’s the same for most football fans at most clubs all over the world, in every village, town and city. The Blackburn phenomenon, which we have seen (see Chelsea too) is a modern, can i say it, a post-modern malaise.

Even if there wasn’t a new contract who cares? Looking around, the stadium, the players , Jenks, the rest of the brit pack, Gnarby, Ryo, Cambpell and others, and the likes of Masters Rosicky & Arteta, Big Per, Uncle Santi and The Animal (Kozza) to guide them…well…Arsene has done his job (quite well!) regardless of what decision he makes going forward. That deserves the loyalty and respect that is beyond those who are trapped into staring into the depth of their own Arsenals.

There will be no apology from those who have staked their reputations on saying the club hasn’t been spending money that it didn’t have. This graph from Swiss Ramble via PIMP speaks for itself:

Possibly explains the thinking about the over 32 thing discussed by others the, um, the other day. Well, the past is the past. Onwards and upwards!

Spot on George. Keep up the good work.

els, there is nothing wrong with expressing an opinion that you prefer to see the team play 4-4-2 for whatever reason you choose. The difference with the people George refers to is the know it all tone ” Wenger’s past it, he doesn’t do tactics, he should play the way I want him to” etc. That is what pisses people off. Without knowing why the manager plays a certain way, without taking into account that most modern top clubs have moved away from 4-4-2 for a reason, how are they in a position to state categorically that their way is better?

Great posting Zim, although I disagree with you on one thing – I’m not a fan of Szczesny. There, I’ve said it. Doesn’t stop me supporting him when he plays for us though. I’ve got a feeling I may need to learn how to do that more often if a few more egos land at the Arsenal as we start ‘splashing the cash’!

  26. I can fully appreciate why you block some commentors, I thought I was blocked awhile ago? However I also understand why Tony Attwood & Walter Broeckx won’t block alot of commentors on Untold, although things have changed on Untold slightly, due to some unforgivable verbal abuse, I do like the idea of challenging some perspectives. Some people are set in stone and won’t except a differing opinion but some will take on board what is put in front of them. So if you like a wee battle with the negative posters or media whore types we have a few and could do with a little help.

Anyway, I/we on Untold felt the changes coming, even when you know who left, it’s only a matter of time and being patient, allowing the club to grow and be guided by those who’s job it is.

We can confidently state that we are now a settled club with a settling squad who want to improve and challenge to be the best.

Its something that has confused me, with some people claiming a lack of ambition. Arsenal are probably one of the most ambitious sports clubs on the planet and they have nearly everything in place to be competitive at the very top for decades to come.

Because of this I know that my boy, who is only 3, and yes, I have already brainwashed him into being an Arsenal fan (and I have no remorse, what so ever) will taste success as a fan in the future because of what the current custodians have accomplished, that should be recognised by the fan base and applauded, will it happen? Probably not, but the history books will promote Wenger as the builder and architect of our club and I for one hope the stadium is renamed after him when the time is right.

    To borrow Wren juniors statement of his father;

Reader if you seek his monument look around you.

I only used to visit Untold, but now I visit this site also, as part of my daily read, so thankyou.

  27. I don’t know why, but this recent tidbit of information I’ve gotten from Swiss Ramble on our club makes me really proud to be a Gooner:
“Another logical result of Arsenal’s years of reported profits is that they are one of the few Premier League clubs that pay corporation tax: £4.6 million last season (the highest in the league).”

With all those stories of big corporations evading taxes all the time, it’s fantastic to see, that we aren’t only a sensible club in football terms, but in the way we behave all round. I do wonder how much taxes our rivals pay… if they pay anything at all.
