Hello and welcome to this week’s round-up. The round-up will attempt to take on a spherical form as I attempt to make amends for my absence last week, for which I apologise.
First up is a very quick look at our game against the Mancs. We saw something in this team in that first half that was a bit special. It was the spirit of men who refused to lie down, regardless of the opponent. A good goal finished by Theo was undone by Bacary’s moment. We could have been in the clear, had we made more of our dominance. I think it’s probably symbolic that I spent the first half on my feet and the second chewing my fingers. Our opponents woke up and the game became tense and restricted. It finished 1-1 and I agree with Szczesny when it called the second half a bit boring.
The Votes have been collected and counted for April’s player of the month award and the accolade went to a deserving Aaron Ramsey. Now I think I believe in democracy, and I’ve never been one to Tomas voters into making a decision they’re not completely Rosicky about, but there was another way. In fact, there were several players who could easily have won the award in what can easily be described as a successful month. Four wins and two draws at the end of the season they call business, is not bad at all.

Santi Cazorla doesn’t want to let anybody down, and that is what he attributes to his excellent first season, according to this week’s interview with Arsenal Player. Having dragged our attack through a tough slog of a season, Santi has done anything but. If anyone other than Cazorla gets the Arsenal player of the season award this year, I will be furious. Unless it’s Arteta, of course. If anyone other than Santi or Arteta win it I’ll be furious. Furious! Or Per.
This week brought about the trip to Q.P.R. where three points were vital. The early-game butterflies were still mere caterpillars awaiting metamorphosis when Arteta found Theo lurking in the box and the winger slotted home. 1-0 to the Arsenal! It was the Gunners who started the game and, but for a wild header from a former player, only Arsenal players touched the ball before the goal. Rosicky was the spark but it took a composed pass to find Walcott and the power in his shot took it through Green’s gloves. Rosicky was at it again when he created another chance for Theo but this time the keeper managed to touch his effort onto the post. A better player than Tomas may have found themselves on the end of the rebound but then a better player than Tomas probably has super powers. There were some lesser chances for both sides but it was all about winning and our refusal to concede chances made kicking on a risk deemed not worth taking. Sagna recovered well from his thing the week before and had a good game and Szczesny made an incredible save which could prove to be vital come the time to tally the points. It finished 1-0 and the pressure went back on our opponents.
There was then a shit-storm, the likes of which I once vowed to never address. There are some players who, after a few good months, fans are lining up around the block to get a little touch of his todger. Six months of quality – nothing but love, 16 years of genius – you get until the end of the season to prove yourself. I digress. I’m talking about the complete FABrication that is the story of our old, young skipper returning to the home of football. The Cesc situation is quite clear but there does seem to be some confusion draped in hope. He has gone to Barcelona to become their new midfield linchpin. Entropy spares no man and Xavi is already looking like a guy whose years are of concern. Whether you want Cesc back or not, you’re not getting him anytime soon so do kindly give it a fucking rest. Thanks.
Wojciech Szczesny has been upsetting the neighbours with some rather forthright comments about which Andy House Snake was none too impressed. The Pole in Goal remarked that Bale wasn’t good enough to get them into the top four and, to be fair, Wojciech spoke with history on his side. If it’s us or them, it’ll be us. We’re us and they’re them. It is that simple.
A huge story was broken by the writer John Cross and his Mirror yesterday morning. Arsenal have allegedly signed a deal with Puma to manufacture the Arsenal kits for some amount of time. For this, Puma will pay a lot of money over said period of time. Whether the deal is in fact concluded or not remains to be seen as we await an official announcement. The financial breakdown you have just read is a Positively Arsenal exclusive. Speed of the Puma! Bravestar, no?
Last night all eyes were firmly fixed on the crucial tie between the Spuds and the Chavs. In the blue corner was everything to detest about modern football whereas in the shit-stained white corner was the enemy of all things pure and decent. Even though a point each was my favoured outcome, I didn’t feel very good about myself after watching such filth. Positively Arsenal will be setting up a support group for those who were affected by the issues in last night’s programme. Remember, people, some things aren’t for all eyes. I won’t upset you with more details than is essential. It was a draw. The march to third continues!

Thank you Mr Bradyesque, I agree with szcezhny. I have seen it. Wilshere, Jenkinson, Chamberlain, Ramsey, Gibbs, Walcott destroy Newcastle, Alain Delon is on his knees while Arsene is smiling down to him saying “Made in England”. Fair things.
Yesterday i was touched by alistair cambell’s tribute to his bigger brother. The antichrist thanked his biggest influence. So today i expect the big daddy O to pay his dues. Lord Satan Kissinger of the NSA. Battles, Politics, Power, Influence, Control, Psy-Ops, Sabotage, Coersion…yep they sure speak the same language……..

I couldn’t bring myself to watch the match last night. Instead, for some reason best known to myself, I thought it would be preferable to tune in to 5-live as they eulogised and fawned over our Lord God Ferguson, leader of the free world. This gentleman they were slavering over seemed to bear no resemblance to the bellicose and purple nosed fella I vividly remember, from, ooh, only last week. Ten minutes of Lily Savage, Peter Reid and assorted illiterati, and frankly I was almost ready to phone the Samaritans myself.
Anyhow, “it’s in our hands”. The way it should be.

i will like to talk about ramsey. i think eveyone should.
it is instructive to note that our current run of form coincides with him being moved to the middle. post spuds game. his work rate and selfless run althrough the entire games has really help arteta to concentrate on his defensive duty in front of our center backs. no one is talking about arteta being too light weight to play defensive mid anymore. infact if we manage to get a goal now, it is almost game over for the opposition.

Good news about Aaron- clearly all that booing, jeering and tutting from some Arsenal fans that has gone on over the past season and a half has had its reward and turned the young Welshman from “notfittoweartheshirt”, “deadwood”, and “notgoodenoughtobeinthesquad” to a central performer in the club’s end of season run in.
On Positively Arsenal we should obviously hang out heads in shame. Our open handed support and encouragement of Aaron has been shown up as the pathetic head in the sand AKB nonsense it is (as usual).
Don’t worry though – a couple of dodgy results and the lynch mob will either again be on Aaron’s back or, creative as they are in their abuse, pick another victim to try to drive out of the club.

Lovely number 7, yes thank god for all the horrible miserable bastards who slaughtered young Aaron earlier in the season,if it wasn’t for them he wouldn’t have become our most important player (along with MA8) in recent months,I’m sure he’s got a few thousand places he’d like to put his player of the month award….

if you ask any of our midfielders who they want as partners in the middle, i’m sure most will mention aaron. he is a guy who will gladly do all the hard works while alowing others to take the glory. doesnt complain. played anywhere and everywhere for the team. even though his preference is in the middle, he will gladly play in goal if only to help the team. steve bould said he has always done everything you as of him. and i say rightly as well. that is what i call professional. always at his duty post.

Dave Allen! I haven’t thought about him in years. They used to run his show on Saturday nights on our PBS station, where we Americans learned everything we knew about all things British. I used to watch it with my Dad. Always felt like I was doing something naughty. Mom wouldn’t approve.

b7 cant agree with santi as player of the season, although he has done well in his first season he has gone missing for large parts in some games, his recent resurgence has coincided with him being played out wide and being able to wander in and cause trouble especially in the last twenty minutes of games. p.o.t.s. will be difficult this year as different players have been important at varying times of the year as Aaron, Thomas, kos and per are proving now.
having said all that this was a very funny yet very insightful piece so im not going to bother reading arseblog

Amusing to see the Manure fans wringing their hands over Moyes; most seem to think he’s not fit to patrol the dug-out …
Players have at different times ‘gone missing’ during the season but I think that’s indicative of a couple of things, the most important being the continued bedding in of what is still a very new group of players. But additionally, the fact that we are not a one-man team – in fact, the very opposite means that we are stronger as a team and squad and that surely means different people coming to the fore at different times, in different games? Overall a sign of strength in the long run, I’d suggest.

We got rid of Kyle Ebecilio, even though he was one of the best youngsters in the academy. He is one of the most promising youngsters in Europe at central midfield.

Before Aaron’s leg was broken he was my favourite young player by a mile; bearing in mind he and Jack were coming through more or less together. And I’ve got absolutely nothing against Jack, for the record! At that time his potential seemed limitless; once he starts scoring people will really sit up and take notice; that shouldn’t really be the case but I remember Cesc being told to score more and that more or less heralded his own ‘coming of age’ if I remember rightly.

I have strong memories of Dave Allen, in the late 70s, an introduction to England of sorts, through the eyes of the Irish bloke? Must be, it was my little London period. Yes, the glass of something and the cigarette were his props. What stood out more for me was sitting so comfortably through the “stand-up” part of his show. He had such wonderful timing; and a new nun/priest joke every week. Wonderful stuff from the Irishman. At the opposite end of the spectrum in those days was Jasper Carrot, whose sense of the completely ridiculous always appealed to me. With that lot plus Fawlty Towers, Monty Python show, and every so often the Goodies and the two Ronnies, my education of things the English found funny was complete. Then came Absolutely Fabulous a decade on or even later, and the Young Ones, and the 70s seemed timid.

Fabulous B7, fully agree re Rosicky, such a joy to behold in full flow when fit. He’s taken over the role of being Santi’s chief outlet, long held by Arteta. Simply put, Rosicky’s class.
